Following the announcement on 4th February 2008 by John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, of the Scottish Government's continued support for Business Improvement Districts in Scotland (BIDS) details are given here of the Government grant which is to be used to assist in the development of proposals for a Business Improvement District.

The Government wishes to encourage local business groups and associations to work with their local authorities in developing Business Improvement Districts across Scotland.

The grant is a single payment and no further financial support would be provided by the Scottish Government.

It is expected that the grant will be available throughout this financial year.

Funding for the development of Business Improvement Districts is limited and whilst all applications will be considered, it is inevitable that some will not proceed to grant or may fail to meet the assessment criteria.

Please download both the 'enquiries letter ' and 'application form ', which give further details on the application process and requirements in respect of the grant.
